Why is Australian Rules football so popular in Australia?
March 28th, 2010 | by admin |I’m an Aussie and I’ve never really liked the game although I’m forced into submission to show some interest in the game due to the huge popularity of the sport here in Australia. I can’t help put think that Aussie Rules is kind of like stickball in a way with a lack of purpose in the sport and a lot of footy fans seem to be uncouth and boorish.
Like a lot of footy purists at games seem to yell out silly abuse "you bluudy umpires!" "get the ball", etc. Typical bad qualities of Australian culture.
It’s un-Australian to hate Aussie Rules? Ok then, whatever you say. I’m just saying that Aussie Rules is real backward and it needs to keep up with the rest of the world. Oval playing area? Long season, etc…
That’s Unaustralian

Its unique to Australia, its fast, physical and skillful. The fans are fanatical and the players have quite a rare combination of being both physical and athletic across the whole field.

Don’t know. Quite frankly, I don’t think that Aussie Rules players are that skilful.
Rugby or League. Now those are real sports!
