Is there some sort of amendment to the college football rules for field goals..?

since the spotter is technically down as soon as he catches the ball? In college, as soon as a knee touches the ground, the players is down and the play is over. The spotter generally has a knee on the ground when spotting the kick. There must be some rule on the books that excludes the spotter on field goal attempts, right? If the kicking team runs a fake and the spotter trips and falls and doesn’t get touched, can he get back up? I searched the NCAA football rules briefly but could not find anything regarding this, can anyone link a rule that covers this?

The rule is that on the extra point, the holder can have a knee down with intent of having someone kick the ball. Also, if the snap is high and he goes up and comes back down he is ok for the same rule. If he gets up and rolls one way or another, he is no longer a holder and is now a passer or running back.

if they run a fake, and the spotter trips, then yes he IS down
the exemption from being down is only while spotting, so once he stands up with the ball, those rules go away, and he is considered a normal player
